MarkCut offers both local and cloud-based features:
- Gemini and NotebookLM watermark removal: run entirely in your browser; we do not upload your images, PDFs, or videos to any server
- AI image watermark removal: requires uploading images to our servers or partner AI services for processing. We temporarily receive uploaded images for processing and delete or anonymize them per our data retention policy
- Account and usage: if you log in or use paid features, we may collect email, login state, and credit usage as necessary
3. Local vs. Cloud Processing
Gemini and NotebookLM use browser-based technologies (e.g. Canvas API, WebAssembly) for image processing; all computation is on your device. AI image watermark removal is processed in the cloud; uploaded images are sent through our backend to an AI service and results are returned. We do not use your uploads for model training or long-term storage.
4. Third-Party Services
We may use third-party services (e.g. Google Fonts for fonts, AI providers for watermark removal). Font services may collect basic data such as IP; images used for AI removal are handled only for that processing as described in this policy and our agreements with providers.
5. Cookies and Local Storage
We may use browser local storage to save your preferences such as language settings. This data is only stored on your device and is not sent to any server.
